You can transfer money from PayPal to GCash after linking your verified Philippine accounts. GCash charges 1% on every cash-in.

GCash’s old ₱200 fee cap is gone. A ₱60,000 cash-in now costs ₱600, plus any PayPal currency-conversion cost. Start with money that has cleared in PayPal, convert USD to PHP, then cash in from the GCash app.

For a $1,000 available balance, our 9 September model estimates ₱60,163 through PayPal to GCash, ₱60,771 through PayPal to a Philippine bank, or ₱61,687 through Elevate Pay to a Philippine bank. For a new client payment, PayPal’s receiving fee brings the PayPal-to-GCash estimate to ₱57,498. Here’s how to link, transfer and resolve common delays.

How to link PayPal to GCash

You need a fully verified GCash wallet and a verified Philippine PayPal account, according to GCash’s linking guide. The minimum cash-in is ₱500, according to PayPal’s GCash guide.

One PayPal account links to one GCash account. On Android, GCash also requires Chrome as the default browser for the sign-in flow.

Follow these four steps:

  1. Open GCash and tap Cash In.

  2. Open Global Banks and Partners → PayPal.

  3. Sign in to your PayPal account on the authorization screen, then tap Next.

  4. Tap Okay on the confirmation page.

Both accounts must belong to you. Different names or a PayPal account registered abroad can stop the link.

GCash can ask you to link PayPal again for security. Reopen PayPal from Cash In to complete that connection.

Balance and wallet requirements

You can only cash in money that has cleared in PayPal. Pending or held payments won’t be available, and your GCash wallet needs enough space for the incoming pesos.

To convert dollars, open PayPal Wallet → More beside USD → Convert currency → PHP, enter the amount, then choose Next → Convert Now. GCash’s cash-in flow uses the resulting PHP balance.

How to send money from PayPal to GCash

To transfer money from PayPal to GCash, start in GCash. The app calls the transfer a cash-in. Its official transfer guide uses these steps:

  1. Tap Cash In on the GCash home screen.

  2. Open Global Banks and Partners.

  3. Tap PayPal. It may also appear under Recent Partners after you’ve used it.

  4. Enter the PHP amount, tap Next, then complete the cash-in on the confirmation screen.

The confirmation shows the amount, fee and wallet credit. A successful cash-in also appears in your GCash App Inbox.

GCash says transfers are usually real time, with some taking 24–48 hours. PayPal gives a wider window of two hours to three calendar days, depending on the amount.

A second cash-in creates a second transfer. It won’t speed up one that is already pending.

PayPal to GCash fees

There are three possible charges: the fee to receive a client payment, the USD-to-PHP conversion cost and GCash’s cash-in fee.

GCash’s cash-in fee: 1% from 7 March 2026

GCash takes 1% of every PayPal cash-in. Its fee update applies that rule to all amounts from 7 March 2026.

The previous ₱200 cap no longer applies. Older articles and the older section still visible on GCash’s fee page can make the charge look lower than it is.

PayPal’s USD-to-PHP conversion cost

PayPal’s balance-conversion charge is 3% above its base exchange rate, under the Philippine fee schedule.

The conversion cost is built into the peso rate PayPal gives you. Once you’ve used that rate, don’t deduct another 3% from the pesos.

The 4% figure on the same page applies to sending-payment conversions and certain refunds. It isn’t the balance-conversion fee used before a GCash cash-in.

What if this is a new client payment?

PayPal deducts a receiving fee from a new client payment before you convert or cash in. For money already available in your balance, that fee has already been deducted.

At PayPal’s standard international commercial rate, a $1,000 USD invoice costs $44.30 to receive, leaving $955.70. Platform payouts can use different fees.

$100, $500 and $1,000 compared

Each row starts with an available USD balance. Any fee for receiving the money earlier is excluded.

PayPal estimates: the BSP reference rate on 9 September 2026 was ₱62.65. This model reduces that reference by 3% to ₱60.7705, then deducts the withdrawal fee; for GCash, it assumes the 1% fee comes out of the converted amount. Receiving fees, converted pesos and GCash fees are rounded to cents in that order. PayPal uses its own base rate, so these are cost estimates, not account quotes.

Comparison baseline

Our USD-to-PHP rate on 9 September was ₱61.78. We deduct a $1.50 local-transfer fee before conversion. The table excludes any fee for moving money from your Philippine bank to GCash.

For a new $1,000 client payment, adding PayPal’s $44.30 receiving fee reduces the PayPal-to-GCash model to ₱57,497.59. With Elevate Pay, you receive ₱61,687.33 from a $1,000 ACH payment after our transfer fee, about ₱4,190 more in this model.

PayPal’s PHP bank-withdrawal fee is ₱50 below ₱7,000 and zero above ₱7,000. Its schedule omits the exact ₱7,000 boundary; none of the examples lands on it.

Why hasn’t the money arrived in GCash?

The cash-in is still processing

Most cash-ins arrive quickly. GCash allows 24–48 hours for delayed transfers, while PayPal’s service window extends to three calendar days. A success message in App Inbox records a completed wallet credit.

The PayPal balance is in USD or is held

Convert USD to PHP in PayPal before cashing in. If the payment is on hold, it must clear first; changing its currency won’t release it.

Global Banks and Partners or PayPal is missing

PayPal cash-in requires a fully verified wallet. In the current flow, it appears under Cash In → Global Banks and Partners, or under Recent Partners after use. An unverified wallet can’t link PayPal.

The linked details do not match

The accounts must belong to the same person. Different names, wrong sign-in details or incomplete verification can stop the link before a cash-in starts.

The wallet has reached its limit

A fully verified GCash wallet normally holds up to ₱100,000. GCash’s limit-increase guide describes a ₱500,000 tier after linking a bank or PayPal account and completing a qualifying cash-in of at least ₱100.

Your existing wallet balance uses part of that space. A ₱120,000 cash-in won’t fit in a ₱100,000 wallet, and monthly incoming limits also apply.

The transfer uses the GCash Visa card

GCash Visa can’t transfer money to or from PayPal. Use the PayPal cash-in option inside the GCash wallet.

Can you transfer PayPal to GCash without linking?

No, not directly. PayPal cash-in requires the two accounts to be linked.

You have three practical choices:

  1. Withdraw PayPal to your own Philippine bank, then send the pesos from that bank to GCash. The onward bank transfer can add a fee.

  2. Keep the pesos in your bank if that already lets you pay the bill or make the transfer you need.

  3. For your next client payment, receive USD through Elevate Pay, withdraw to a Philippine bank, then move pesos to GCash.

An informal swap adds a risk: you send PayPal funds first and depend on the other person to send GCash back. Your own bank-to-wallet route keeps both accounts under your control.

How to transfer PayPal to Maya

Maya offers a card route. Its official guide starts with an upgraded Maya account and an activated virtual or physical card.

The basic sequence is:

  1. Upgrade your Maya account, add at least ₱100, and activate your Maya card.

  2. In PayPal, open Wallet → Link a card.

  3. Enter your Maya card details and complete verification.

  4. Select the Maya card from PayPal’s withdrawal destinations, enter the amount and complete the transfer. A card that doesn’t appear there can’t receive that withdrawal.

PayPal charges 1% for a PHP card withdrawal, with a ₱10 minimum and ₱500 maximum. Currency conversion is separate. GCash’s wallet cash-in fee has no cap.

PayPal to GCash vs PYUSD on GCrypto

PYUSD is a stablecoin. A PayPal cash-in moves your payment-account balance into GCash. Buying or transferring PYUSD through GCrypto uses a crypto service with its own prices and fees.

Get your next client payment without the PayPal conversion step

On the $1,000 client-payment example, you receive an estimated ₱61,687 in your Philippine bank with Elevate Pay, versus ₱57,498 through PayPal and GCash in the fee model. We charge $0 to receive ACH payments and $1.50 for the local transfer.

Open your Elevate Pay account in the Philippines. Then follow our local-bank payout steps to transfer your USD earnings into pesos.

To reach GCash, send the pesos onward from your Philippine bank through InstaPay or PESONet. The bank’s onward charge is separate from the comparison above.

For Upwork earnings, follow our Upwork-to-Elevate Pay setup steps. Our Philippines Upwork fee guide separates platform charges from payout costs.

Sending GCash to PayPal is a separate direction; the cash-in steps on this page only move money from PayPal to GCash.

How we checked this

We checked GCash’s instructions, fee update and wallet limits, PayPal’s fees, and Maya’s card guide on 9 September 2026. We calculated the peso estimates using those fees, the BSP reference and our rate for the same date. We did not test a PayPal-to-GCash transfer for this guide.
